Over 50s Flu Vaccinations:
Following on from the national news released about the over 50's flu vaccination, we request that patients do not contact the surgery to arrange their appointment for this at this time.
The Surgery Chorley has not yet received any vaccination supplies.
Once we have been advised further all qualifying patients will be contacted
Thank you for your patience and understanding at this time.
We are sorry for the inconvenience being caused for our patients trying to contact the practice by telephone recently. You may have found that trying to reach us first thing on a Monday morning has been particularly difficult.
Like many GP practices in Lancashire, our telephone system is run by a local NHS IT provider who are aware of these issues.
We want to assure you these problems have been escalated and explain that fixing them is not in our control, so please be patient with us whilst they are being addressed.
We have been told that over the next few weeks, a short term fix being put in place that should ensure our telephone systems can stay online during very busy periods. In the longer term, we know that upgrades are being made to the system that should fully resolve the problems.
Remember, there are other ways that you can contact the practice. Firstly if you are able please review our web pages please do this is where we will provide you with the most up to date methods of contacting us or where appropriate other alternatives exist such as:-
MyGp or PatientAccess ; an app that you may have already downloaded (if not please do and follow the instructions for use) which you can use to book appointments, contact the practice or order your prescriptions.
As usual, you should dial 999 in an emergency and can access NHS111 or your local pharmacy for advice.
Flu Vaccines are now available. Please book your appointment online or telephone the surgery after 3pm. Please note priority will be given to patients aged 65 or over, those with a chronic disease, carers and patients who are pregnant.

COVID – 19 (Coronavirus)
As a practice we must continue to follow the strict infection, prevention and control measures to limit the risk of the virus to you as patients and to our staff. This means that where possible our staff and clinicians will remotely triage and assess your needs before determining if a face-to-face appointment is required. If your needs can be met safely via the telephone or video consultation then this will take place. If a clinician feels you require a face-to-face appointment then this will be arranged. We have been operating in this way since the start of the pandemic in order to continuing providing all patients with access to our services.
The current pandemic situation is challenging for everyone in different ways and we appreciate that the situation we all find ourselves in can be frustrating sometimes. Unfortunately a number of our staff have recently experienced foul and abusive language or behaviour from a minority of patients. This is not acceptable and we will not tolerate this sort of behaviour towards our staff - all of whom continue to work tirelessly during this pandemic. In line with our zero tolerance policy, if you are found to be abusive towards members of staff then appropriate action will be taken.
If you are asked to attend the surgery for an appointment please comply with government guidance by wearing a face covering. If you don't yet have a face covering, the GOV.UK website produced a guide on how to make one with items you will have readily available at home. https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/how-to-wear-and-make-a-cloth-face-covering/
Please do not attend the surgery if you have any of the following
- A high temperature
- A new continuous cough
- Have lost your sense of smell or taste
Please self isolate and follow the latest NHS guidance https://nhs.uk/conditions/coronavirus-covid-19/
